Government affirms commitment to CCS

Newswire Businessgreen reported on Wednesday 24 October the government has insisted it is "fully committed" to the development of carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology. The assurance comes amid concerns four UK CCS projects could miss out on €600mn of EU funding because chancellor George Osborne is unwilling to provide the necessary match-funding from the UK. A spokesman from the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) said the department had always intended to comply with the funding process and would confirm the projects it was putting forward to the European Commission by the end of the month.
