Political unrest leaves oil above $110/bl

The price Brent crude oil for May delivery gained a further 1% to reach $111.69/bl on the ICE Futures Europe exchange, Bloomberg reported on Thursday 17 March. The rise was a result of growing concerns that ongoing civil unrest in the Middle East will threaten supplies. The previous day the now expired April contract rose 2% to close up at $110.62/bl, some 8% higher than its February opening figure of $103.08/bl.
