UK can go on without nuclear, says Hendry

Energy minister Charles Hendry said there was a risk of delays to the UK's plans for new nuclear power stations during an interview on BBC Radio 4 on Sunday 10 April. He said that companies may be delaying or scaling back investments because of the impacts of the events in Japan. He pledged the Government will find alternative solutions to meeting its carbon reduction targets, even if the UK's nuclear energy programme is delayed, but achieving these targets would be "more expensive" without nuclear.
