Cabinet clashes over carbon targets

Businessgreen reported on Tuesday 10 May that energy and climate change secretary Chris Huhne and business secretary Vince Cable have clashed over the UK's climate change targets. Cable fears that the targets set out by the Committee on Climate Change (CCC) to cut carbon emissions by 50% from 1990 levels by 2030 will cost too much, and described the proposed carbon budget as "not cost effective". The Government will decide on whether or not to adopt the fourth carbon budget laid out by the CCC next week.
