Coalition set to reveal fourth carbon budget
The BBC reported on Tuesday 17 May that the Government is ready to reveal the fourth carbon budget after receiving recommendations from the official advisory body the Committee on Climate Change. Energy and climate change secretary Chris Huhne is expected to set out plans for the carbon budget following reports of infighting between cabinet ministers, as business secretary Vince Cable argued the targets would have a negative impact on UK business. Prime Minister David Cameron stepped in to resolve the dispute and it is rumoured the Government will include concessions for high emitting businesses and an "opt-out" clause if European competitors do not adopt a similar target.
