Geopolitics of climate change will affect UK energy security, says Huhne
Energy and climate change secretary Chris Huhne said that climate change could threaten UK energy security in a speech at the United Services Institute on Thursday 7 July. His speech highlighted the geopolitical risks posed by climate change on food, water, health and security. He noted that energy security could be especially vulnerable due to changing weather patterns affecting hydropower output, heat waves affecting cooling systems and vulnerable fossil fuel extraction processes. He predicted the UK will be "exposed to shocking and alarming" consequences of a warmer climate.
