UK unlikely to become nuclear world leader, says Huhne

Energy and climate change secretary Chris Huhne gave evidence on Tuesday 19 July as part of the House of Lords Science and Technology Committee inquiry into Nuclear Research and Development Capabilities. He admitted to peers that the UK would find it difficult to be a "world leader" in nuclear energy. Huhne outlined the importance of creating expertise in a portfolio of different energy sources, rather than focusing "unrealistically" on nuclear power. He said the county should not "play god, and pick a winner".
