Small businesses face challenges when switching suppliers

uSwitch, an online comparison service, published research on Monday 8 August showing that changing business energy supplier is one of the most difficult challenges facing small businesses today. The study revealed that 62% of small businesses thought that changing mortgage provider was easier than switching energy supplier, while 70% said switching internet providers and 65% said switching bank accounts would be easier. uSwitch said one-in-five businesses are dubious about the competitiveness of the energy market, with only 10% of businesses switching suppliers in 2010. Only 15% of businesses thought that the regulator, Ofgem, had done enough to ensure competitiveness.
