Report highlights returns for on-site renewables installations

On Thursday 8 September the Carbon Trust published a report analysing the business case for businesses to produce their own electricity through renewable energy. It concluded renewables installations such as solar photovoltaic, wind turbines and anaerobic digestion facilities can offer businesses significant returns on investment. The report revealed that businesses made average returns of 11%-12% on investments made in on-site renewable energy systems. The Government currently has two incentive schemes in place to encourage the uptake of micro-renewable energy: the Feed-in Tariff for electricity; and the Renewable Heat Incentive for heat.
