UK will only cut emissions in-line with European neighbours, insists Osborne

Speaking at the Conservative Party conference in Manchester on Monday 3 October Chancellor George Osborne said the UK will not lead its European neighbours in efforts to cut carbon emissions. Osborne explained the Government will only aim to cut carbon emissions in-line with EU targets in order to ensure UK businesses are not disadvantaged compared to companies in Europe. He insisted the planet would not be saved "by putting our country out of business".
