PM launches drive to increase offshore wind investment
Prime Minister David Cameron will attend a meeting on Tuesday 29 November with ministers and potential offshore wind investors which aims to incentivise investment in the UK. Ministers will be meeting with investment funds, pension funds, and sovereign wealth funds to establish what can be done to raise the £200bn of investment in energy infrastructure needed to increase energy security and reduce fossil fuel use. Speaking before the event Cameron said he is "determined to seize" the energy and industrial opportunity presented by offshore wind. Energy minister Charles Hendry noted that potential investors have been invited to London "to make the case for offshore wind as a stable, long-term and lucrative investment opportunity."
