Green Deal still needs work, says CBI
Business lobbyist the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) said the Green Deal and Energy Company Obligation still faced key challenges on Wednesday 18 January--the last day of the government's statutory consultation. The CBI said that the Green Deal needs to be consumer-friendly to ensure the scheme delivers cost-effective emissions reductions, especially at a time when household budgets are tight. CBI director for business environment Rhian Kelly said the scheme has the potential to play a key part in the UK's transition to a low-carbon economy, providing emissions reductions and private sector growth. But she noted that the rigorous accreditation for assessors, providers and installers could lead to significant costs for consumers.
