CBI calls on chancellor to end the “discredited” CRC
The Confederation of British Industry (CBI) called for chancellor George Osborne to change the tax system to incentivise growth and investment on its submission to the 2012 budget on Wednesday 22 February. The business lobbyist's tax proposal include: a new capital allowance to attract investment into infrastructure which does not currently qualify; new forms of finance to help companies grow and take on staff; and ways to ensure environmental taxes help to encourage new growth. The CBI suggested the Carbon Reduction Commitment Energy Efficiency Scheme should be replaced by expanding the Climate Change Levy and introducing mandatory carbon reporting to cut confusion and complexity for businesses.
