Government shows commitment to CCS
On Wednesday 22 February energy and climate change secretary Edward Davey reiterated the government's commitment to carbon capture and storage (CCS) at his first meeting on the technology since taking his post. Speaking after the DECC CCS industry day Davey said once the technology has been demonstrated at commercial scale it will have national and international implications for how countries power their economies. He said there are many promising proposals for UK projects, which could be supported by a £1bn commitment from the government. He also praised the high level of interest displayed from industry at the event.
