Electricity market reform debate rolls on

Electricity market reform debate rolls on
On Monday 23 July consumer watchdog Consumer Focus said it was concerned by the climate change select committee's suggestion that the cap on prices could be removed if carbon reduction targets could not be met. Consumer Focus said cost controls were "vital" to ensure the three challenges of green, secure, and affordable energy were met at least-cost to consumers. It said there should be no "blank cheque" for investment at a time when millions are living in fuel poverty, and paying for green energy through bills rather than taxes meant the poorest would suffer most.
