EEX issues January trading results

On Thursday 3 February the European Energy Exchange (EEX) published its spot and derivative market trading volumes for natural gas and power. Total trading of gas on the spot market was 1.3TWh for the month, up from 0.9TWh in January 2010. But trading on the derivatives gas market was down year-on-year from 1.1TWh to 1TWh.
Trading of power on the spot market totalled 26.0TWh in January 2011, up from 21.8TWh last year. The volume of power derivatives trading was down year-on-year from 111.3TWh to 94.5TWh.
