Audit results show energy customers getting more accurate bills


The results of the Billing Code audit for 2016 have shown a “strong improvement” in the overall level of compliance. The audit results, issued on Tuesday 6 June, showed that in the majority of cases, suppliers have robust billing processes and controls in place which enable them to bill their customers accurately. EDF Energy maintained the highest “Gold” award while British Gas, E.ON and Scottish Power achieved “Silver” and npower “bronze”. Dave Reeman of auditors PwC said: “The improvements in scores reflect the efforts made by suppliers to strengthen their processes and controls to ensure they are in compliance with the Code and that their customers receive a positive experience with them.”
