BEIS publishes system costs report
BEIS has released a study, commissioned by the preceding coalition government, on the whole system impacts of electricity generation technologies. The report, prepared by Frontier Economics, was completed in February 2016 at the request of former energy and climate change secretary Ed Davey, who by then had lost his seat in Parliament. Since then Davey has, among others, called on the government to release the report, which seeks to develop a theoretical framework for evaluating the whole power system impacts of generation technologies. But an addendum explains that numerical estimates have been removed as these were deemed highly context and methodology-specific.
