BEIS still forecasting overspend on low-carbon budget
A new report has shown that the government is continuing to anticipate an overspend on the Levy Control Framework (LCF) budget through to 2020-21. On Friday 25 November BEIS published its Consumer-Funded Policies Report. It said that LCF spending would, by 2020-21, reach £8.4bn (in 2012 prices)––still significantly above the £7.6bn cap but within the headroom. The report said that cost control measures, intended to put the Renewables Obligation and feed-in tariff scheme on a “sustainable footing”, would save the average household £6 in 2020-21, and that the government was continuing to consider options for supporting mature technologies through future CfD allocation rounds.
