BEIS survey finds rising level of concern about energy prices
The department issued wave 21 of its Energy and Climate Change Public Attitudes Tracker on Thursday 4 May, finding that over seven in 10 (73%) of respondents were very or fairly concerned about “steep rises in energy prices in the future”. This represented a rise compared with the 65% concerned about steep energy price rises at waves 18 and 19. Other areas of concern were in relation to the UK becoming too dependent on energy from other countries (66%), and concerns that the UK is not investing fast enough in alternative sources of energy (66%). Public backing for renewable energy maintained its high level, with 79% expressing support and only 1% strongly opposed.
