Brexit threatens “golden age” of Scottish renewables, warns SNP

The SNP has urged the UK government to commit to a long-term renewable energy plan in order to support investment in the sector, following the vote to leave the EU. Speaking on Tuesday 30 August, MSP Ash Denham said it was becoming “abundantly clear” that the government’s policies were damaging confidence in a sector on the cusp of a “golden age”. She said: “The issues and uncertainty arising from the Brexit vote are only adding to the instability in the sector. We've recently seen the impact of Tory infighting in preventing the UK from signing up to a key EU-led pledge on offshore wind that would have been vital in supporting Scotland 's renewables sector.”
