Businesses sceptical of UK climate action
More than four-fifths (83%) of businesses lack confidence in the UK’s ability to meet the requirements of the Paris climate agreement, a new survey has found. On Friday 4 November the annual CBI/AECOM Infrastructure Survey was published. It called on the government to produce a “clear and credible plan” for improving business confidence in the UK’s emissions reduction efforts, and said that the establishment of the new BEIS department represented an excellent opportunity to “bring the various strands together in order to achieve this”. Only around a quarter (27%) of survey respondents said they felt the UK would take steps in this Parliament to improve the longer-term outlook for energy security.
