CBI says demand-side response key to flexible energy system
The government must aim to make good options for demand-side response (DSR) accessible to all consumers, the CBI has said. Responding, on Friday 20 January, to the recent call for evidence on energy system flexibility, the business group said that delivering DSR would require a holistic review of network charging arrangements, and of the ancillary services market. It said that market-based frameworks should be developed within the balancing services market so that there was a genuine level playing field for both the demand and supply side. The government should, the CBI said, also support the continued evolution of the capacity market to better facilitate technology-neutral auctions.
