DECC minister outlines UK ambitions in Paris
The UK will seek an “ambitious” climate deal at the global talks in Paris next month, DECC junior minister Lord Bourne has said. Speaking last week at Chatham House’s annual conference on climate change, Lord Bourne said that any agreement would need to include a regular period of review so as to take account of innovation and developments in technology, while also ensuring the long-term 2?c objective remained within reach. The UK’s representatives will also seek legally-binding rules that will provide accountability and help “level the playing field for businesses”. Lord Bourne said it was “obvious” that support would also be necessary for countries adapting to the impacts of climate change.
