DECC plans reforms to Warm Home Discount
The department opened a consultation on Friday 8 April on planned changes to the Warm Home Discount scheme for 2016-17. Among the proposals is a cap on the total proportion of Industry Initiatives spending that each supplier can use for debt assistance. DECC is also proposing to enable organisations that create innovative schemes to alleviate fuel poverty to bid for Industry Initiatives funding. It is hoped that this will enable innovation in how the most vulnerable are identified and supported, as well as providing a simple way for suppliers to meet their obligations. Initial views are also sought on the future of the scheme beyond 2016-17. Responses are invited by 6 May.
