DECC working with industry to cut CCS costs
DECC has reaffirmed its commitment to working with the carbon capture and storage (CCS industry) to make the technologies more cost effective. On Friday 1 July the department published its response to the energy and climate change select committee’s recent report on CCS. DECC said it was continuing to engage with academics and innovators in the sector to establish the potential for new capture technologies, and that it was providing secretariat support to the CCS Advisory Group being chaired by Lord Oxburgh. The group plans to publish a report on its findings and recommendations later this summer.
