Emissions Reduction Plan set for further delay: report

The government has stepped back from its commitment to publish its Emissions Reduction Plan before the end of March, according to media reports. An article published by The Independent on Saturday 28 January said that, when questioned about the possibility, BEIS had refused to confirm a date for the plan’s launch, saying only that the report would detail how emissions would be reduced during the 2020s, and that it would send a clear signal to stakeholders. Meanwhile, environmental legal group ClientEarth has said that the latest delay could lead it to take court action against the government, as it has failed to provide a clear explanation of the UK’s approach to meeting its long-term targets.
