Energy industry seeks better public engagement
Seven out of 10 (70%) energy industry professionals believe that energy sector issues are “ineffectively communicated” to the general public, according to a survey by the Energy Institute (EI). Released on Tuesday 23 June, the research suggested that less than a fifth (18%) believed that communication about the sector was effective. It argued there was an urgent need to remedy this as public perception and trust had a significant bearing on the success or otherwise of new energy projects. The report also found that industry professionals prioritised security (38%) over sustainability (34%) or affordability (28%) in determining the most important components of the energy trilemma.
