Energy market needs “strategic overhaul”, says FSB
The UK’s approach to delivering the low-carbon transition lacks transparency and clear direction, according to the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB). In a report issued on Wednesday 4 January, the group said that small businesses were confident that the decarbonisation programme would create significant opportunities, with over one in 10 (12%) already generating their own power and nearly three in five (58%) having made energy efficiency upgrades. But it said the UK needed a new carbon plan that could help deliver the investment required in energy infrastructure. National chairman Mike Cherry warned that, without a “strategic overhaul” of the system, the UK risked missing its climate targets.
