Energy policy administration in need of consolidation: KMPG

A restructuring of energy policy administration, structured around the types of customers and businesses that are served by administrative bodies could deliver efficiency savings and alleviate complexity in the sector, a report by KPMG has concluded. The analysis, released on Tuesday 12 July and commissioned by Gemserv, found that administration options delivered by the private sector were “likely to achieve a superior long term value for money outcome”. Other advantages found in a private sector approach included greater management and resource flexibility, within a clear contractual arrangement with government, to ensure appropriate control is maintained.
