Energy UK calls for political parties to commit to competitive markets

Energy UK launched its 2017 general election manifesto on Friday 28 April, listing five key principles that the industry believes any political party should look to adopt. The principles included: a commitment to competitive markets, making energy efficiency a national priority, a continued commitment to decarbonisation, an industrial strategy built on a low-carbon economy and efficient trading of power and gas with Europe. Energy UK Chief Executive Lawrence Slade said: “We are witnessing monumental changes right across the sector, as we transition to a digital, decarbonised energy future that better meets consumer’s needs.”
