Government sets RO for 2017-18
BEIS has confirmed the level of the Renewables Obligation (RO) for the 2017-18 compliance period. In a policy paper issued on Saturday 1 October, the department said that the overall size of the obligation would be set at 108.2mn Rocs (excluding headroom) in the UK. This means that electricity suppliers will be required to produce 0.409Rocs/MWh in England, Wales and Scotland, and 0.167Rocs/MWh in Northern Ireland. However, the government further confirmed that it would soon outline how the obligation level will be impacted by the planned exemption, for energy intensive industries, from the indirect costs of the RO.
