Government told to prioritise continuity in EU energy relationship

The UK should establish a relationship with the EU that facilitates the efficient flow of gas and electricity across borders to the benefit of consumers, according to Energy UK. In a statement following the triggering of Article 50 on Wednesday 29 March, the organisation said that a positive outcome to the negotiations, supported by a long-term policy framework delivered through the Industrial Strategy, could both help the UK to meet its climate change targets and create “a bold and ambitious plan for energy”. It further said that the Brexit negotiations should aim to minimise domestic policy uncertainty in order to encourage continued investment.
