Government urged not to sacrifice environmental commitment after Brexit
Greener UK, a coalition of environment groups, has said it will be crucial for the UK to maintain its commitment to green policies after leaving the European Union. The group released a manifesto on Wednesday 22 February in which it called for the UK to secure its global climate leadership by continuing to cooperate on energy with the EU. This would involve avoiding disruption to the current EU 2030 climate and energy framework. Furthermore, it said the UK should affirm ongoing investment in, and deployment of, clean energy infrastructure and efficient vehicles, while maintaining high standards and financial support for greenhouse gas reduction, energy efficiency and air quality.
