Government urged to back energy storage
Industry group the Solar Trade Association (STA) has called on the government to tackle the barriers to the deployment of energy storage. The STA published its response to the government’s call for evidence on A Smart, Flexible Energy System on Friday 13 January. It said that, among the challenges facing the sector, particularly important was the lack of a regulatory definition for storage, which resulted in problems in the way in which the technology was treated under current market rules. The organisation further emphasised the need to implement minimum standards that would ensure that household storage units were installed safely and effectively.
