Haven Power run the Woodbridge 10k, raising £665 for Ipswich Hospital's Children Ward
Haven Power employees Hannah Carlon, Mark Lyttle and Victoria Westlake were among the runners taking part in the Woodbridge 10k road race this weekend to raise money for Haven’s chosen charity of the year – Ipswich Hospital’s Children’s Ward. This was the latest event in the Haven Power fundraising calendar and a total of £665 was raised through a JustGiving page.
Once registration opened it took just 90 minutes for race entry places to be filled this year but our three representatives were lucky enough to each secure a spot led by Hannah’s initiative. This year marked the 35th year of the popular race that takes runners through the streets of the market town of Woodbridge, Suffolk and sees hundreds of adults, junior runners and fun-runners navigate their way around the 10km course. The full race comprises of two laps of the town and the junior race is a 1.5km course which follows the same route.
The weather held out for great running conditions and all of the Haven runners put in a fantastic amount of effort throughout the race with Hannah finishing in 1 hour 11 minutes, Victoria in 52 minutes and Mark powered through in an impressive 44 minutes.
Hannah commented at the finish line: “So happy it’s over but so proud for completing it! This was my first ever running event and knowing we’ve raised a lot of money for the Children’s Ward at Ipswich Hospital definitely motivated me to keep running the entire way!”
This is the latest in a series of events Haven Power have been involved in as we continue our support of local community events.
