Labour appoint shadow energy and climate change secretary
The Labour Party announced Lisa Nandy as the new shadow energy and climate change secretary on Monday 14 September. Nandy was first elected to the Commons for the constituency of Wigan, North West in 2010; she subsequently served as shadow children and families minister and then shadow charities minister under leader Ed Miliband. Between 2010-12, she was a member of the education select committee. Nandy replaces Caroline Flint, who has confirmed that she will return to the backbenches. Labour also confirmed Kerry McCarthy as shadow environment secretary, Angela Eagle as shadow business secretary, and John McDonnell as shadow chancellor.
