Lords to investigate economics of energy policy
The Lords economic affairs committee launched an inquiry on Friday 22 July into The Economics of UK Energy Policy. The committee said it would consider the current mix of policy interventions and subsidies, and the measures that were necessary to address any failures in the market. Evidence has been requested on specific issues including: the key economic challenges in the energy market for the government to address in the next decade; the emerging technologies that could materially change the market; and the future balance between the roles of the public and the private sector. Responses are invited by 30 September.
