MPs urge government to restore investor confidence
“Sudden and unexpected” changes to energy policy have “spooked” investors, the energy and climate change select committee has warned. The committee published its report on Investor Confidence in the UK Energy Sector on Thursday 3 March. It said that, along with ending a series of green policies, the government had given investors “contradictory signals”, and was failing to provide sufficient transparency in its decision-making process. The committee’s recommendations to the government included: providing detailed plans for the next three contracts for difference auction rounds; publishing the assumptions that underpin calculations of spending within the Levy Control Framework (LCF); and setting out how much money would be available within the LCF beyond 2020.
