North Sea production set for first increase in 15 years
The oil and gas industry has welcomed provisional figures from DECC suggesting that oil and gas production from the UKCS increased by 2.5% in the first half of 2015. In a statement on Monday 3 August, Oil & Gas UK chief executive Deidre Michie said that, while it was “still early days”, production could be set to rise for the first time in 15 years. She explained: “Production in the second quarter of the year looks particularly encouraging, and early figures suggest that May saw the most oil and gas produced on the UKCS since March 2012. The organisation will publish its annual economic report next month.
