Ofgem sets out proposals for electricity SO incentives

The regulator has detailed its final proposals for a one-year interim Balancing Services Incentive Scheme (BSIS) for the electricity System Operator (SO), to be implemented from 1 April to 31 March next year. The scheme seeks to mitigate the external costs of balancing the electricity system and to incentivise the production of outputs. The final proposals, published on Wednesday 1 March, include: removing the requirement for an audited report on the BSIS costs, changing the publication and submission dates to align with SO data processes, and amending the demand and wind forecasting incentives to set more robust targets.
