Scottish business group calls for 50-year energy strategy

A coherent energy plan for both the UK and Scotland over the next 50 years is “vital” if businesses are to have enough confidence to make investment decisions, the Scottish Chambers of Commerce (SCC) has said. Speaking on Monday 25 April at the launch of its Sustaining Growth, Supporting Business campaign, the group’s chief executive Liz Cameron emphasised the importance of boosting confidence in the energy sector following “fundamental changes in policy such as the UK government’s decision to shift the goalposts on renewable energy policy”. She added: “The next Scottish government will have a role to play in this agenda with its responsibilities for renewable energy, planning policy and a range of business taxes.”
