UK government must “revisit” transmission charging: SNP

The Scottish National Party (SNP) has highlighted comments by an energy expert as further proof that the UK’s transmission charging arrangements are “deeply unfair”. In an article in The National on Thursday 20 August, Professor Paul Younger said the grid was organised “in such a way that the only big conurbation they recognise as being worth serving is London”, and that Scotland “doesn’t matter”. SNP MSP Mike Mackenzie said the comments added further weight to the argument that the UK government needed to “revisit this pressing issue”, and to listen to the “growing number of voices calling for them to change direction on energy”.
