Unions fear impact of energy policy changes

The TUC’s general secretary Frances O’Grady has warned that the government’s reforms to energy and climate policy could cost the UK jobs and investment. Responding on Friday 25 September to the news that Drax was withdrawing as an investor in the White Rose carbon capture and storage project, O’Grady called on policy-makers to back the UK’s low-carbon economy. She said: “This is a very worrying development and shows how government back-pedalling on energy and climate policy is costing the UK jobs and investment. The current political uncertainty over our low-carbon future is bad for business, workers and Britain.”
