Chinese and EU leaders are expected to agree a joint statement on the Paris Climate Agreement saying it is “an imperative more important than ever”.
Reported by the BBC on Thursday 1 June, the statement is seen by commentators as a rebuff to the United States allegedly planning to withdraw from the Paris Agreement.
The decision to withdraw would mean the United States would join Syria and Nicaragua as the world’s only other non-participants in the agreement. Via his personal Twitter account, President Donald Trump confirmed he would announce his decision on the agreement today.
