Haven Power, one of the UK’s largest business electricity suppliers, has been shortlisted for the ‘CSR, Charity and Community Initiative’ at the EDIE Sustainability Leaders Awards 2018.
Haven Power has been shortlisted for the work they do with local charity Eden Rose Coppice Trust, in support of their Brickmakers’ Wood project. The project is dedicated to transforming a once neglected woodland into a welcoming space for disadvantaged and terminally ill people.
In September 2017 the company reached its yearly fundraising target of £8,500 for the charity, three months ahead of schedule and has so far volunteered 840 hours including unplanned Saturday volunteer days. Its fundraising success is due to a “huge amount of staff engagement since being involved with the charity” according to Paul Sheffield, Chief Operating Officer for Haven Power.
On the announcement of Haven Power making the shortlist Paul says, “Its wonderful news to hear the company’s efforts have been recognised by The EDIE Sustainability Leaders Awards, particularly in a year with a record-breaking number of submissions. Our employees have worked very hard to support the charity in a number of different ways and we are looking forward to seeing how much we can raise by the end of the year”.
The partnership benefits both organisations as the charities efforts to make the woodland self-sufficient and supports the company’s ethos “to inspire change in energy use and help make sustainability second nature”. The charity’s founder Rob Brooks says “Haven Power’s support is making a huge difference, we’ve never seen this much commitment from a company. We’re now two-to-three years ahead of where we would’ve been otherwise.”
Founded ten years ago, Haven Power has grown by focussing on exceptional customer service and offering renewable energy to both SME and large businesses.
The awards will be held on 24 January 2018 at The London Hilton and celebrate innovation and achievement in sustainability from the smallest Small-Medium Enterprises (SME) to the largest industrial organisations that we all recognise.
