Converting the UK’s gas grid to hydrogen would reduce heat emissions by at least 73%, research from Northern Gas Networks (NGN) has found. The H21 Leeds City Gate report, published on Monday 11 July, found that converting the gas grid to hydrogen would be a “major step towards meeting the UK’s carbon reduction targets.”
Dan Sadler, H21 project manager at NGN, said: “A nationwide conversion to a hydrogen gas grid is technically possible, economically viable and will be a significant contributor to meeting the UK’s decarbonisation targets.”
