IGas Energy revealed on Monday 2 April that is pre-drill estimates of shales gas resources in the UK haves doubled to around 10tn Tcf (283bn cm), on Monday 2 April. IGas Eenergy produces onshore oil and gas from sites around the UK. The update follows further analysis of logs and samples from a well at Ince Marches in the Bowland Shale, northwest England. The company said the studies suggested it could “more than double” initial log results of 4.6tn cf Tcf (130 bn cm) gas in place. IGas cChief executive Andrew Austin said “UK sourced hydrocarbons are going to play an increasingly important role in the future energy mix of the country.”
