Energy is less than 40% of your electricity bill – so what makes up the rest of the cost?
5th January 2018
Many businesses are unaware that a fraction of what they pay towards their electricity bill actually pays for the energy they use.
Electricity supplier Haven Power is making it easier for businesses to get to grips with their bills and take control of their energy forecasting, with a new guide.
Many businesses are unaware that a fraction of what they pay towards their energy bill actually pays for the energy they use – the bulk of their bill goes towards third party costs, regardless of who their supplier is.
In recent years, Third Party Costs have increased significantly, from representing 55% of an average energy bill in 2017/18, up to 62% in 2018/19.
Paul Sheffield, Haven Power Chief Operations Officer, said: “Increases to third party costs are beyond the control of your energy supplier. They can occur frequently throughout the year, and need to be managed effectively, which is why we’ve developed a new guide to help businesses do just that.”
“We urge business owners to use our new guide to stay up-to-date with third party costs and the impact on their business – whether within their current flexible supply contract or as they fix their next contract.
