With thousands of businesses across the UK already profiting from changing the way they manage their energy usage through Demand Side Response, isn’t it time for you to start reaping the benefits?
Keeping the right amount of power flowing wherever and whenever it’s needed requires constant management. It’s like walking a tightrope. Plan for too much capacity and you end up paying power stations to waste resources. Plan for too little, and you end up paying a premium to generators if demand suddenly spikes in peak periods.
And as more old coal-fired generators go off the Grid, to be replaced by new intermittent renewables, balancing on the tightrope gets even trickier. How do you make sure you’ve got enough power for everyone who wants it when the sun doesn’t shine, or the wind doesn’t blow? How do you make sure you haven’t got too much? And that’s even without talking about making sure the frequency of the power supply is always balanced correctly.
But this tricky balancing act can help energy managers balance the books for businesses that are prepared to be flexible with their power usage, thanks to Demand Side Response (DSR).
DSR schemes enable businesses to receive payments for shifting their power usage at crucial moments (usually to help balance peak demand or to support intermittent renewables). So you can get paid for turning your power off from time to time, or even for turning it on at other times.
If you need to, you can replace the power you’re not using from the Grid with power you’re generating yourself (through solar PV cells or a wind turbine for instance) or with power you’ve stored earlier (possibly via the Grid during cheaper periods.) But however you choose to do it, you can be rewarded for managing your energy usage when requested.
Thousands of businesses of all types are already making money from DSR. But it can be complex and time-consuming to manage on your own. That’s where Haven Power can help you.
What makes it even more attractive is that our experts may also be able to help you identify suitable DSR opportunities without capital expenditure – the cost of the scheme could be financed from the revenue generated by DSR.
We can also help integrate any existing, eligible onsite generation capacity you may have so your business can take advantage of Feed-in Tariffs.
